Glitr Bracelets

New Glitr bracelets designed with antique brass button (with inset mother of pearl) closures.

New Glitr and Indicolite

Some new Glitr pieces. The chakra line developing here with buddha amulet from Bangkok and heart chakra colors. The men’s bracelet is incorporating a piece of Indicolite, rough blue tourmaline meant to have healing properties for the throat chakra. Glass beads from Bali; coin closure.

Moon and Stars Glitr

Glitr — moon and stars — a collaboration. I created these two necklaces for the daughters of a dear friend who died this New Years. I just recently and serendipitously discovered the silver amulets in a work file from a years-ago project to create an identity for her jewelry business. The amulets are examples of her work that I used during the development of her logo/identity. This recent collaboration has been a meditation, a way to work through the loss.

I have strung her silver work alongside blue lace agate, glass and leather. The colors represent the heart and throat chakras. Two of her silver pieces combine on each strand to signify the mother and daughter relationship — the moon and stars.

It is my hope that these talismans can serve as reminders that their mother’s spirit is with them as they navigate the years to come.

More meditation Glitr

Spanning the chakra spectrum in a single bound… The red/orange grounding and amulet closured bracelet for a friend who recently lost a loved one. The mulit=colored piece I have named the ‘power bracelet’. It’s closure a Danish Krone minted the year after it’s new owner its beads of glass are from Bali. The Blue/Violet necklace for intuition, awareness and communication, what more could anyone wish for?

handsome

gold star glitr for men too… I discovered that this coin has a special history and significance in Japanese culture. In a nutshell it’s scientifically interesting and is meant to bring good luck, in relationships in particular, but also in business. The beads are from Bali.

chakra glitr

More gold star glitr using bits from our trip to Thailand. So it seems appropriate to be working towards a line in the chakra range of colors.

Balinese glitr

The latest in creations for glitr. A wrap bracelet made with Rudraksha seed and glass beads from Bali. The Rudraksha seed beads are traditionally used for making malas (like a rosary) for use in repetitive prayer and for meditation purposes by Hindi, Sikhs and Buddhists. The closure is a Buddhist amulet from Thailand.

buddha glitr

I started a line of handcrafted bracelets and necklaces I am calling glitr, Gold Star glitr. Named glitr because they are for me a meditation on color, texture and shape — a reflection of interior light. This is the first of the thai influenced pieces. The amulet is from Bangkok, Thailand.

More Glitr

Glitr is the working title for my handcrafted necklaces and bracelets. Gold Star Glitr.

more meditation on color and texture

Finished up a couple more of my beaded meditations this weekend. These are sporting an adjustable closure that I have been working out. The bead/button closure allows for several possible lengths along the suede backstrap. Very cool.

Meditation

The evolution of my meditation on color, shape and texture. These new pieces have bits of travel in them; a buddha from Brimfield MA antiques market, a sacred heart from the Mission in Chimayo NM and coral grapes from the Isle of Capri. I am introducing leather along with the semiprecious and glass, another texture… These meditations all began after a workshop with the artist behind Modern Relic. http://www.alixbluh.com/

New Meditation

I have a new meditation…creating these lovelies.
